I left California in 1968 and didn't have an occasion to visit Flabob again until about 1995. It was just like old times. There were several pilots leaning on the fence in front of the restaurant. I think they were some of the same pilots that were leaning on the fence the last time I was there more than 25 years earlier. When I walked inside the Flabob cafe for lunch, there sat Ed Marquart and Ray Stits at a long table having a cup of coffee. Both were a little older than they were the last time I had coffee with them at the same long table, but both were just as friendly as I remembered them from my Flabob days, and they thought I looked a little older than the last time I saw them. It was great visiting an old airport and old friends after 25 years. And all three of us missed the times that Art Scholl would join us for coffee at Flabob's pilots table.
