From about 1996 to 1998, the Howard Miller Clock Co. built 1,000 of the 610-730 Devonshire Hall Limited Editions and they had the triple chime mechanism that chimed on 8 rods for the tune and 4 different rods for the hour count.

After all 1,000 of the 610-730 rod chime clocks were sold, They built a limited edition of only 100 of the 610-731 that had the beautiful 9 tubular silver bell mechanism. The sound of the silver bells is crisp and the clock is beautiful with the long silver bells filling the case.

Instead of striking rods that you could not see, this edition played the 3 different tunes on 9 different long silver bells.

Howard Miller's ultimate Limited Edition grandfather clock. Only one hundred were crafted. Each dial was custom embossed with the clock's number in the series. Each clock was hand-rubbed and finished in Windsor Cherry. There are ten different woods in this clock.

The impressive swan neck pediment is crowned with three finials. Bookmatched crotch mahogany inlay is outlined by a maple, ebony, and satinwood border. A delicately inlaid keystone graces the center of the pediment and features makore, maple, padauk, madrone burl, and ebony veneers

An ornate brass, Arabic numeral dial features brass-on-brass moon phase and custom cast corner and center ornaments.

All of the glass is beveled, much of it by hand. Subtly tapered, solid cherry fluted columns are accentuated with hand-carved column caps and brass plated inlays.

The crotch mahogany veneered door is trimmed with a maple inlay and highlighted at the center with a floral pattern inlay of padauk, pear, and walnut veneers.

The large pendulum features a spun, silver tone disc with an antiqued cast center. Polished brass weight shells include an embossed, antiqued brass band which is pierced to reveal a silver tone band that complements the pendulum and dial.

The detailing continues in the elaborate base with a complementing crotch mahogany inlay outlined with maple and ebony inlays and a satinwood border. Another floral pattern inlay graces the base with more padauk, pear, and walnut veneers.

The German made 9 bell mechanism plays Westminster, Whittington, or Saint Michaels chime.
