Cottage Grove

A little walk back in time.

Cottage Grove, the "Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon", is located in the middle of western Oregon and in the southern part of Lane County.

Six of the covered bridges in Lane County are located in or around the City of Cottage Grove. Centennial Bridge, Chambers Railroad Bridge, Currin Bridge, Dorena Bridge, Mosby Creek Bridge and Stewart Bridge.

The first white settlers came to Cottage Grove in 1848 via the Oregon Trail. Cottage Grove was named in 1861 by Cottage Grove's first postmaster, G.C. Pierce. Pierce moved to the area from Oak Grove.
